The maintenance continues ... We're getting to the end of our equipment maintenance, which always means that we're getting closer to planting time! I am very charged up to begin posting the early planting pictures, and I am also excited to smell less like a shop and more like soil :) The motors are all running great, and there's nothing better than a freshly linseed-oiled hoe handle (is that nerdy?)
If anyone is going to the Illinois Specialty Growers Conference this week in Springfield, I will be giving a presentation on Thursday called "Cramped Capital Cultivation" which details several methods of organic vegetable cultivation. Alongside these methods I will be describing our farm's cultivation story which may save some folks some frustration or heartache.
Our CSA signups continue to roll in, so please remember to register if you are interested! We had a really great season last year, and we are continuing our weekly cooking demo videos which correspond directly to your week's share!
Next week we begin spreading 10 tons of compost (completely plant-based) to ensure that our 2013 crop is as tasty and beautiful as ever.
Happy New Year, and fresh produce is right around the corner ...
