From our hearts to your plates. Check out this great aerial view of the farm from last Fall. We're transitioning another 10 acres to the north, and hopefully the next bird's-eye view will contain the new section too! A special thanks today to our CSA hosts Barry and Suzanne, Chris and family, Rachel and family, Renee and Gunnar, Moksha Yoga, Next Door Chicago, Thrive Integrative Wellness Center for a smooth start to this season, we are happy to work with you!
Begins tomorrow, 3PM, see you there :)
We have some beautiful organic asparagus ready for the market this weekend! Our spinach and bibb lettuce came out really spectacular too - come see us for onion, cilantro, basil (4 types), chamomile, potatoes (4 kinds), popcorn, radish, broccoli raab, braising mix, pac choi, spinach, green onion, lettuce (5 types), cucumber (limited supply this week), and garden plants ready to produce for you (peppers, basil, cabbage, broccoli, parsley, dill, cilantro, cucumber, tomato, kale, chard, silverbeet, collard). Exclamation points!
It looks like mother nature has the final word today and the Kankakee Farmers' Market will be canceled. We WILL be in the sunshine at the Frankfort Country Market tomorrow thought! Until then, we will be tying cucumber plants inside :)
We hope to see you at the market this weekend in Kankakee on Saturday or in Frankfort on Sunday! We are harvesting radish, green onion, many types of lettuce, cilantro, spinach and we will also have potatoes, onions, popcorn, and many beautiful plants for your garden.
We are welcoming Spring with open arms.
These weeks find us seeding like crazy, prepping greenhouses for tomato transplants, fixing tractors, prepping the packing shed, and crashing hard at night.
I'd like to take a moment to thank Rabideau Grain and AHW John Deere for their help getting this farm what it needs! It means a lot to me and our customers that you take the time to help smaller farms.
Crystal and I had a great time at Moksha Yoga in Chicago talking about our CSA and detoxing. It is always a pleasure to come up to visit the studio.
Before I head outside I thought I'd share a few pics from the past week or two!
Checking the baby plants at night brings a new perspective!
This spinach rocks, and we must share it! Hope to see you tomorrow at the Portage Park Farmers' Market. We are bringing heirloom green kale, swiss chard, spinach, green onions, sweet onions, yellow onions, a few types of potatoes, daikon radishes, carrots, and popcorn. Until then!
